A PA Department of Transportation Senior Citizen ID Card or Medicare card is valid identification.  PLEASE NOTE:   As of July 1, 2018, RRTA customers will no longer be able to show a Medicare Card when boarding a bus to receive the free ride through the Senior Free Transit Program.  The only acceptable ID will be the PA Senior Citizen Transit ID Cards (yellow and blue cards) issued by any PA Transit Authority.

To obtain a PA Senior Transit ID card a brief application must be filled out.

A copy of proof of age is required to receive the ID card. The following are the acceptable proof of age documents:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Birth Certificate
  • Armed Forces Discharge or Separation Papers
  • Passport or Naturalization Papers
  • PACE card
  • Statement of Age Verification (issued by Soc. Sec. Office)
  • Baptismal certificate
  • PennDot non-drivers license
  • Veteran’s Universal Access Card
  • Resident Alien Card

An application can also be mailed to you or you can fill one out at our RRTA Information Center at Queen Street Station or the RRTA Operations Center.  Once completed, please mail the application and copy of proof of age to RRTA, 45 Erick Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
