Whether you are a student, senior or person with a disability, RRTA strives to meet everyone's needs when riding Red Rose Transit. Here are some of the groups and services RRTA provides.


Student Services

Don't have a car on campus or just don't want to chance losing that great parking space you found? Let RRTA take you around Lancaster. It's easy, convenient and affordable!

Elizabethtown College - Route 18/Elizabethtown

Franklin and Marshall College - Route 2/Park City B

HACC Lancaster Campus - Route 20/Greenfield or Route 14/Rockvale Square HACC students ride free on Route 20/Greenfield route Monday-Friday when they show their student ID. HACC students also ride FREE on Route 14/Rockvale Square on Saturdays as far as the HACC campus.

Millersville University Millersville University students ride free on Route 16, MU Park City Xpress, and MU Xpress with college ID when class is in session during fall and spring semesters. Click here for the 2011 schedule. Millersville University website

Senior Services

Seniors ride free with RRTA!

If you are age 65 or older, you can ride free through the Senior Free Ride Program, which is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Lottery. Eligible seniors may ride the bus for FREE anytime on any route.

A PA Department of Transportation Senior Citizen ID Card or Medicare card is valid identification.

RRTA recommends that all seniors interested in riding RRTA for free obtain the State Transit ID card. This will ensure that other important identification cards are not lost while riding the bus. To obtain a State Transit ID card a brief application must be filled out. An application can be mailed to you or you can fill one out at our RRTA Information Center at Queen Street Station or the RRTA Operations Center. A proof of age is required to recevie the ID card. The following are the acceptable proof of age documents:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Birth Certificate
  • Armed Forces Discharge or Separation Papers
  • Passport or Naturalization Papers
  • PACE card
  • Statement of Age Verification (issued by Soc. Sec. Office)
  • Baptismal certificate
  • PennDot non-drivers license
  • Veteran's Universal Access Card
  • Resident Alien Card

Accessible Services

RRTA provides accessible vehicles on all bus routes. RRTA buses have space available for two wheelchair passengers per trip.

Persons with disabilities can also take advantage of the RRTA Reduced Transit Program and ride RRTA buses for half-fare (Customers must pay full price during 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday). A half fare card, available from RRTA, must be shown to receive the half fare price. Half-Fare 10 Ride Passes can be purchased at RRTA sales outlets or by mail order.

An application for a half fare card can be obtained by calling RRTA at 397-4246.

Persons under age 65 with a Medicare card may qualify for this program.


Park 'n Ride Services

RRTA's designated Park 'n Ride lots are designed to respond to your transportation needs while reducing traffic congestion in Lancaster County. Using Park 'n Ride relieves your problems with parking and traffic and it adds to substantial savings for you. Park 'n Ride is a safe, reliable alternative to driving alone to work.

Park your car for FREE in one of our suburban locations, then board a RRTA bus to complete your trip. Designated Park 'n Ride lots are noted on the maps of each bus schedule.

RRTA recommends purchasing a 10 Ride Pass or 31 Day Pass for maximum savings when you Park 'n Ride.
