POSTPONED – RRTA Proposed Fare Increase for Bus Service
As of April 24, 2020, SCTA has decided to POSTPONE the proposed fare increases for RRTA’s Bus Service until further notice. The public will have an opportunity to make any comments to the proposed changes prior to their approval. A public hearing date will be announced some time in the fall.
The South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) Board announced proposed changes for Red Rose Transit bus fares at its March 18, 2020 Board Meeting.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, SCTA has rescheduled dates for the public hearing and effective date if the fare changes are approved.
The proposed fares would take effect on Monday, August 24, 2020 instead of July 1, 2020. Under the proposal, SCTA is simplifying the RRTA fare structure and eliminating the fare zones to make it easier and more convenient for customers to use RRTA. The new, proposed fare structure would only have a base zone fare, instead of the 5 fare zones currently being used.

A Public Hearing has been re-scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the RRTA Operations Center, 45 Erick Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 to receive any comments. If any person is unable to attend the public hearing, comments may be emailed to RRTA at email@example.com or mail to RRTA Fare Hearing, 45 Erick Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Please note: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, it is encouraged for the public to email, write or call to communicate their comments instead of physically attending the public hearing as a last resort.
